Frank Burtnett Education Scholarship

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DAWSONVILLE, GA. May 5, 2017 — The National Association of Personnel Services (NAPS), the association with the longest and most comprehensive history of professional credentialing in the staffing industry, named its first recipient of the Frank Burtnett Education Scholarship this week. Jillian Smiley, recruiter, Pathfinders, Inc., Atlanta, Georgia, is awarded with this honor, the first of its kind, which will provide her with complimentary individual registration for the NAPS annual conference; complimentary registration for CPC or CTS certification, including training manual and examination fee; complimentary registration for the on-site Certification Immersion Class; placement of recipient name on a personalized certificate, which will be awarded at a conference session or luncheon, and on a NAPS plaque for conference display. This new member activity is designed to promote professional development and continuing education within the NAPS search and staffing community.

Dr. Frank Burtnett, NAPS Certification and Education Consultant since 1995, offered the following observation on the selection of Jillian Smiley for the scholarship created to honor his service to NAPS: “Jillian possesses a thorough understanding of the need to address diverse clients in her work with Pathfinders, Inc. and to do so in a professional, ethical manner—consistent with the laws governing employment transitions in the United States. She also recognizes the value of the Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) credential, as well as the career-long learning that is required for one to be an effective recruiter. I am confident she will be an excellent role model for future scholarship recipients.”

In the award letter to Jillian, Trinette Cunningham, NAPS President, praised the honoree, writing, “Pathfinders has had a long and active membership in the National Association of Personnel Services, and your selection for the Frank Burtnett Education Scholarship represents the company commitment to professionalism and excellence. I look forward to meeting you in Denver and to welcoming you as a new CPC credential holder.”

The NAPS Annual Conference 2017 will take place in Denver, Colorado, from September 20 to 22, at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center. Every year, NAPS members and colleagues in the staffing and recruiting community gather to learn from the leaders in the business through captivating presentations, breakout sessions and networking. Keynote speaker Amy Van Dyken, Olympic gold medalist, headlines the event.

Information about the conference as well as education opportunities can be found at www.naps360.org.
